Lost Vision is a piece exploring retinitis pigmentosa - a condition that gradually causes people to lose their vision over time. Using Unreal Engine, I attempted to simulate and interpret this visual deterioration through immersive, real-time environments informed by a wide range of research into the condition and first-hand visual references. The project focuses on recreating the shifting perception experienced by individuals living with retinitis pigmentosa, including narrowing fields of vision, loss of peripheral detail, and distortion of light and contrast. Rather than presenting a purely clinical representation, I aimed to create an emotional and sensory experience that encourages empathy and awareness. Through experimentation with lighting, environmental design, and visual effects, Lost Vision explores how digital spaces can be used to communicate complex physical experiences and translate medical research into an accessible, artistic format.
